The Bloggin’ BUZZ

For those of you that watched my video “Quick Tip” last week, you know that I went away for a vacation in Lake Tahoe.

As I was looking at the pictures, I realized two things:

1. pictures do not do nature any justice!
2. people could have the wrong impression when they see us in the pictures

In order to help you to understand what I mean…take a look:

In the picture on the far left, we had been hiking on a trail up to Cathedral Lake when the ridge that we were crossing allowed us to see this majestic mountain rising above the treetops – amazing!

In the picture on the far right, this was the 3rd and final hike that we went on. The picture is of Woods Lake found just at the tree line (the elevation at which trees no longer grow). Yeah, we were up pretty high. (There was actually still snow in some shadowed areas.)

In the center picture, you can see us. No one is smiling.

Nope, not one of us.

But it’s not because we’re unhappy. In fact, we were pretty proud of ourselves and especially proud of the kids! We were also grateful for the rock and the fact that we had caught our breath again and even happier that we were going to go back down the mountain!

Without the explanation, you could have a different impression of the picture.

What impression are you making in your marketing? Does it look great from your perspective, because you know what’s going on? What about from other people’s perspectives?

Your marketing shouldn’t need you to explain to anyone your message. Your message should stand alone and move people to action.
