Profile Anaysis for Jackie Jones

Deidre’s Makeover Monday!!

Here we go…this Free Profile Makeover is being completed for Jackie Jones! Jackie is actually quite active within social media and has a presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter as well as her own radio show!

For this particular makeover, Jackie has chosen for her LinkedIn profile to be reviewed. Jackie’s LinkedIn profile can be found at http://www.linkedin.com/in/jackiejones.  I have taken screen shots of Jackie’s profile and numbered various areas to make it easier to follow along.

jackielinkedin-11. Great update! Always good to let people know where you’re going to be, especially when it’s with a recognized name and event! One caveat – you need to update it once the event has completed. I realize it’s Monday and you not have had a chance to change this update yet, but it’s past due! It could be something as simple as “had a GREAT time and learned a ton at the CEO Space Las Vegas meeting!”

2. Fantastic! Many people don’t give a history of their positions, but you’ve done a great job spending some time filling in this information.

3. 8 recommendations is a good start! Typically, when I see someone with as many connections as you, I expect to see more recommendations. (Not that 8 is something to sneeze at!!) I will say that it seems that the quality of your recommendations is stellar, but I would suggest that you direct more people to your LinkedIn profile to make recommendations for you.

One of the best ways to do that is, of course, to write recommendations for other people. BRAVO!! You have done that as well. It appears that you have recommended 22 people. If you can find a few more people in your network to write a recommendation for, you may find that it will come back to you in spades!

4. You appear to be HIGHLY connected! With that being the case, as stated in #3, it would be good to have a few more recommendations to balance out your percentages.

jackielinkedin-25. Great job spending the time to customize your web links! I’m curious why the first web link goes to a site that doesn’t appear to have been updated in a while (at least on the landing page). That may or may not be the case, but you want to have consistency when going from one site to the next. This particular website appears to have been stagnant since April of 2008. If that’s not the case, you may need to make some changes there.

(BTW – “Follow me on Twitter” is a smart link!!)

6. A customized LinkedIn profile link – great job!!

7. This is a perfect opportunity to let us know something a little bit more personal about you! Inserting your interests is something that a lot of people fail to do, but is extremely important to help your reader feel an affinity towards you…this is especially true if your interests are either similar to your reader or intriguing to your reader. It also helps you to appear more like a person and not so very, very corporate. This is extremely important because in most cases, people buy because they know, like and trust someone. Inserting your interests helps to further the potential relationship between you and your prospect.

8. This is slightly redundant as you already have a live link for your Twitter account and SmallBizAmerica. You can take one of these and add it as a live link above (you can have a total of 3). Also, TheJackieJonesChallenge.com goes to the same website as the SmallBizAmerica.com which I personally found a little confusing.

9. Love the specialties! If you don’t want to lose the ones that are in your summary, you can always place them here.

jackielinkedin-3110. What a great application! This gave me a lot of insight into you and your personality, especially by way of your comments on each of the books! Congratulations on finding an application that highlighted how well read you are…FANTASTIC!!! I’m going to take some of your recommendations and read them myself!

11. I’m glad that you’ve put some items in here. It would be nice to see some of the interests on a more personal basis. Again, help me to relate to you as a person, for example, reading would be an interest. Do you like music, hiking or skiing? Let us know what interests you.

12. You are a part of so many groups, I don’t have the space to list them all!! Fantastic being so tied in!

BONUS TIP: I might suggest that you place the groups on some sort of calendar (e.g.Outlook) to be sure that you check in with at least one or two of the groups per week to make sure that you are receiving benefit from being a participant in the group rather than just being associated with them.

Additional congratulations for having a Best Answer in Viral Marketing. Rock on!!

I hope this was beneficial for you!

Using FreeTranslation.com: Hardly it is more 3? than years on a regular basis I work above this direction and I consider your ideas too thoughtless.

  4. Deidre Hughey says on :

    Hi Zajcev,

I’m not sure why you consider my ideas “thoughtless”, though you are of course, welcome to your opinion.

I think it’s important to note (for others that may read your comment) that many of my clients have seen significant increases in traffic to their website after making recommended changes to their profile.

I hope you find a blog that you enjoy!

Hi, good post. I have been wondering about this issue, so thanks for posting.

Good article. When building links, quality is of utmost importance. This is often overlooked by webmasters and SEO’s. Often you will see a site with just a handful of backlinks rank higher than one with thousands. This is because of quality and a natural linking pattern.

  8. Gertrudis Tjarks says on :

What should I do to have my website towards the top of google do I will need to hire an seo organization or can I do it myself thanks for the help

  9. Deidre Hughey says on :

Getting your website to the top of Google? That’s a very lengthy answer – the simplest answer is, you need to make sure that in everything you do that you are using keywords that people would use to search for you. Use these in your blog posts, web pages, etc. Knowing a little SEO doesn’t hurt. Unfortunately, I can’t give you the lengthy answer that you’re probably looking for. However, if you send me an email, we could set up a time to talk. :)
