I had the opportunity to meet Oie several years ago but didn’t get to know him until the latter part of 2008. Oie just happens to be one of those people that you thank your lucky stars that you had a chance to meet.

Oie is kind-hearted, full of faith, hope and and overall gentleness that is pulled together with a wonderful sense of humor. He’s also written a book called, Being a Sharefish in a Selfish World. Though writing a book was never Oie’s intention.

In fact, the Sharefish book is a story that he was writing to hand to his son. He wanted to hand it to his son at that moment that we all reach in our formative years. The moment when we believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that we know more than our parents, because somehow along the way, they have become idiots. (I’m really close right now, my kids are 10 and 12).

Fortunately for Oie, he has a few more years to wait before his son, Oren gets to that moment (Oren is turning 16 months old tomorrow, April 4, 2009). But Oie will tell you that time will go quickly and it was important to get the message down on paper now.

And I’m so glad he did! I read his book several months ago and was deeply moved by the story.
