Where’s Your Face?

Thoughtful Thursday
Are you on Facebook?
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not asking because of a need to tell you all of the reasons why you should be on Facebook.
Nope. Instead I would like to focus on one item that I find to be the most ironic of all of the situations that I find myself in while I’m spending this particular platform.
Where’s your face?
Let’s take the word Facebook apart. Face and book. You can look at that as potentially meaning a book full of faces or that each face will contain a book of information.
Either way you look at it, there’s a face involved.
So, why is it that someone will contact me on facebook, request to connect with me and when I go to their profile, I see this:

You’re on Facebook…where’s your face?
How am I supposed to connect with you? Do you go to networking events and parties with a mask on or perhaps a bag over your head like the Unknown Comic?
No, of course you don’t.
And why not? Because, it detracts from the reason that you’ve gone.
Remember the reason? You went to meet people.
If you’re online and you’re trying to connect with me, please have a picture. It makes you credible, makes the introduction a much more personable experience and people will be more likely to interact with you.
And, oh yeah…your company logo is not a good substitute for your face.
